Democratic Platform “Opposes Any Effort” to Limit Abortions

by Steven Ertelt | Washington, DC | LifeNews.com | 9/4/12 10:41 AM

Democrats at the 2012 Democratic National Convention are set to approve a platform today that is unambiguously pro-abortion and opposes any effort whatsoever to stop any abortions. The platform also calls on forcing Americans to pay for abortions at taxpayer expense.

The platform Democrats will approve rejects efforts to stop forcing taxpayers to fund Planned Parenthood, the nation’s largest abortion business and supports the Obama HHS mandate that forces religious groups to pay for and refer women for abortion-causing drugs under Obamacare.

Democrats also support Roe v. Wade and its 40-year legacy of 55 million abortions, and President Obama’s decision to strike the Mexico City Policy, which President George W. Bush put in place to protect taxpayers from having to fund groups that promote or perform abortions overseas. Unlike the Republican platform, Democrats say nothing about China’s one-child policy that includes forced abortions.

On the other hand, Republicans approved a strongly pro-life platform.

The Democratic platform reads:

The President and the Democratic Party believe that women have a right to control their reproductive choices. Democrats support access to affordable family planning services, and President Obama and Democrats will continue to stand up to Republican efforts to defund Planned Parenthood health centers. The Affordable Care Act ensures that women have access to contraception in their health insurance plans, and the President has respected the principle of religious liberty. Democrats support evidence-based and age-appropriate sex education.

Protecting A Woman’s Right to Choose.

The Democratic Party strongly and unequivocally supports Roe v. Wade and a woman’s right to make decisions regarding her pregnancy, including a safe and legal abortion, regardless of ability to pay. We oppose any and all efforts to weaken or undermine that right. Abortion is an intensely personal decision between a woman, her family, her doctor, and her clergy; there is no place for politicians or government to get in the way. We also recognize that health care and education help reduce the number of unintended pregnancies and thereby also reduce the need for abortions. We strongly and unequivocally support a woman’s decision to have a child by providing affordable health care and ensuring the availability of and access to programs that help women during pregnancy and after the birth of a child, including caring adoption programs.

Standing up for Women’s Rights Around the Globe

President Obama and the Democratic Party are committed to supporting family planning around the globe to help women care for their families, support their communities, and lead their countries to be healthier and more productive. That’s why, in his first month in office, President Obama overturned the “global gag rule,” a ban on federal funds to foreign family planning organizations that provided information about, counseling on, or offered abortions. And that is why the administration has supported lifesaving family planning health information and services.

Organizers of the Democratic convention in Charlotte, North Carolina has released lists of the speakers for the event and no pro-life advocates are included. The list is long on speakers who have spent their entire political careers advocating for abortion. Missing among the roster of notables speaking at the convention? Anyone who shares the pro-life view a majority of Americans hold on abortion.

In 2008, the Democratic National Committee allowed Cecile Richards, the president of Planned Parenthood, the nation’s largest abortion business which Obama has funded despite its coverup of child rape, to speak from the stage. Nancy Keenan, the head of NARAL, and one of the pro-abortion activists to endorse Obama early in the 2008 election, spoke as well. Both will be back this time around and Sandra Fluke, the Georgetown student who has been a surrogate for Obama promoting the pro-abortion HHS mandate, will speak, too. Keenan said she is “thrilled to be chosen as a speaker at the Democratic National Convention.”

The Democratic Party has already turned back efforts by pro-life Democrats to moderate its pro-abortion position and add any language to its platform showing it welcomes Democrats who oppose abortion. As LifeNews has reported, the Democratic National Committee has officially rejected an effort by pro-life Democrats to get the party to include them in its platform that calls for keeping unlimited abortions legal and paid for at taxpayer expense.

ANTI-CATHOLICS STAFF DNC PANEL

SEPTEMBER 4, 2012 BY ADMIN

Catholic League president Bill Donohue comments on a Democratic National Convention (DNC) event hosted by Catholics for Choice (CFC):

If the Ku Klux Klan were hosting a panel discussion on racial relations at the Republican National Convention, the Republicans would rightly be condemned for doing so. But no price will be paid by the Democrats for allowing the most notoriously anti-Catholic organization in the nation, Catholics for Choice, to host a panel on religious liberty. “Keeping the Faith in the Democratic Party: Protecting Religious Liberty for Everyone” is scheduled to meet between 3:30 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. today.

Catholics for Choice (formerly Catholics for a Free Choice) is not simply a pro-abortion group: it is decisively anti-Catholic. Twice condemned by the bishops’ conference, its stated goal, according to its previous head, Frances Kissling, is to “overthrow” the Catholic Church. The current president, Jon O’Brien, has been equally vicious in his statements against Catholicism. He has been preoccupied this year opposing the religious liberty campaign organized by the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops. Thus the perversity of having him command a panel discussion on religious liberty at the DNC.

In 1995, Marjorie Reiley Maguire, who for years worked closely with the leadership of CFC, branded it “an anti-woman organization” staffed by people who never go to Mass. Lavishly funded by the likes of the Ford Foundation, it would collapse if it had to rely on Catholic contributions—or even non-Catholic individuals—for support.

Speaking at today’s event will be activists from a CFC-organized umbrella group, the Coalition for Liberty & Justice. Several of the groups that comprise this entity have hijacked the Catholic label in service of their anti-Catholic agenda. They include: CORPUS, DignityUSA, New Ways Ministry and the Women’s Ordination Conference. An array of radical left-wing groups with a history of Catholic bashing will also be on hand.

In other words, the DNC’s idea of religious liberty means welcoming anti-Catholic bigots to deliver their message of hate.

Beyond creepy: Obama uses daughters to push abortion

BY JILL STANEK

Fri Jul 27, 2012 09:54 EST

On July 24 President Barack Obama used his daughters as props to promote abortion, stating at an Oregon fundraiser (video here):

Mr. Romney wants to get rid of funding for Planned Parenthood. I think that’s a bad idea. I’ve got two daughters. I want them to control their own health care choices. We’re not going backwards, we’re going forwards.

We all know the word “choice” is a euphemism for “abortion.” And the fight to defund Planned Parenthood is all about abortion. So clear as mud, Obama was advocating the freedom for his daughters to abort his own grandchildren. I’m not the only one who took his statement that way. WroteCP Politics:
President Barack Obama drew a sharp line between himself and GOP opponent Mitt Romney on federally funded abortion rights Tuesday, arguing that federal funding of Planned Parenthood is necessary to preserve his daughters’ right to chose.

This is at least the second time Obama has used his daughters to promote sex without consequences, which is creepy in itself, particularly given the fact they are only 14 and 11.

But the first time was when they were even younger – way younger. From the 2008 wayback machine, on a day Obama was promoting comprehensive sex ed:

I’ve got two daughters, 9 years old and 6 years old. I am going to teach them first of all about values and morals. But if they make a mistake, I don’t want them punished with a baby. I don’t want them punished with an STD at the age of 16.

It is just weird for Obama to discuss his daughters’ future sex lives, period.

Obama’s latest promotion of Planned Parenthood was further inappropriate given the fact Planned Parenthood had killed a mother only three days prior. Tonya Reaves was her name, Mr. President. That’s her photo, right. She was only 10 years older than Malia.

Of late Obama has embarked as much on a Planned Parenthood advocacy campaign as he has his own presidential campaign. Obviously, internal polling is telling the Obama reelection team two things:

- Obama’s fortunes rest on Planned Parenthood as much as we already know Planned Parenthood’s fortunes rest on Obama.
- More voters than not still think highly of Planned Parenthood.

BTW, the Obama girls will never set foot in a Planned Parenthood. They’ll always have first class ob/gyns and/or abortionists, not bottom feeders.
