"It is...Our will that Catholics should abstain from certain appellations which have recently been brought into use to distinguish one group of Catholics from another. They are to be avoided not only as 'profane novelties of words,' out of harmony with both truth and justice, but also because they give rise to great trouble and confusion among Catholics. Such is the nature of Catholicism that it does not admit of more or less, but must be held as a whole or as a whole rejected: 'This is the Catholic faith, which unless a man believe faithfully and firmly; he cannot be saved' (Athanasian Creed). There is no need of adding any qualifying terms to the profession of Catholicism: it is quite enough for each one to proclaim 'Christian is my name and Catholic my surname,' only let him endeavour to be in reality what he calls himself." -- Pope Benedict XV, Ad Beatissimi Apostolorum 24 (1914)

Live In Ontario? Go Defend Life Today At 11:00 AM

This year we are kicking it up a notch. In addition to holding a massive rally at Queens Park like we did in 2011, we have also added a local element for 2012 with "mini-rallies" across Ontario.
(11am, Saturday, October 13, 2012)
As a lead-up to our second annual Defund Abortion Rally at Ontario’s legislature Campaign Life Coalition is organizing a province-wide demonstration at the local constituency offices of MPPs two weeks earlier across the province.
At 11am on Saturday, October 13th, pro-life Ontarians will simultaneously hold Defund Abortion Mini- Rallies at the constituency office of their local MPP. We hope to have enough pro-lifers in every riding to boast a Mini-Rally in all107 electoral districts. This powerful message will remind MPPs that this is not just an issue at Queens Park, but something that their very own constituents are demanding.
Finally, because MPP offices are normally located in high traffic areas, the protestors, their signs, and our message will be seen by the broader community, cars driving by, etc. Local media may also be inclined to cover the mini-rally and thereby spread our message even further.
It's time to turn up the heat in this campaign by bringing it to the doorsteps of every MPP in the province. But we can't do it alone. We need your help. We need you to sign-on as a "team leader" to help us organize these rallies on the ground-level in your city/ town. The work will be minimal; the result monumental.

To learn how easy it is to participate in these local rallies, read our Defund Abortion Mini Rally Instruction Manual, here. To sign up as a "team leader", please contact Alissa Golob at alissa@campaignlifecoalition.com or call 416-204-9749 ext. 238 to be added to our ever-growing list.

Last year, our first-ever Defund Abortion Rally at Ontario's legislature drew over 2000 pro-lifers. The spirited event called on the assembled legislature to ease financial pressure on our crumbling health care system by defunding elective abortion which is a medically unecessary procedure.
Incredible guest speakers, including a medical doctor and families who have been declined OHIP coverage for a variety of genuine health problems, spoke eloquently about the dire need to for our collapsing health care system to fund only genuine health problems, rather than controversial lifestyle choices.
Last year's event drew significant media attention, and we know from speaking to some MPPs, that it impacted them. Since that rally, an election took place and many new MPPs have been elected. This year, we want to make the 2nd annual Defund Abortion Rally even larger. Please mark your calendar. Bring your friends and family! Let's get the attention of the Premier and this new legislature which includes many MPPs who have never heard our Defund Abortion message.

CLC Youth, the organizers of this first ever Defund Abortion Rally, will be employing various strategies to advance the defund objective. The first is to gather thousands of signatures on a Defund Abortion petition that will be presented to Ontario's Members of Provincial Parliament.  Please download a blank petition, get as many signatures as possible, and return them to Campaign Life Coalition Youth, Attention: Alissa Golob.
Secondly, we want to engage all pro-lifers, but especially young people, on the front lines of this Defunding mission. We encourage people of all ages to contact us if they're interested in rolling up their sleeves to assist us.  For young people especially, we'd like to have a team of pro-life youth in every riding of the province to carry out simple, effective strategies including:  mailbox leaflet stuffing and holding 'mini' defund rallies at the office of local MPPs.  As one speaker stated at the rally, "Young people are not the future. Young people are the present".  If you want to stop talking about defunding abortion, and begin doing something about it, email Alissa Golob today.

Ontarians will send our newly elected provincial government a message:  STOP using our hard-earned tax dollars to fund the killing of innocent preborn children.

Campaign Life Coalition Youth holds the position that government-funded abortions are a blatant abuse of tax dollars, are severely unjust, and that these funds can and MUST be directed away from the killing of our preborn children. This is an issue that should be held close to the hearts of young people in particular. We did not have a choice to stand-up against the Morgentaler decision, but we have a choice now. Let’s use it. We are the survivors and it’s our job to speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves.

Excerpts from the Canadian Physicians for Life stance on de-funding of abortion:

Abortion is not an essential medical service. It is designated "medically necessary" for purely social and political, not medical, reasons. Pregnancy is not an "injury, illness or disease." There is no proof that abortion improves health. In fact it disrupts a normal physiological process, poses a risk to the mother, and ends the life of her developing child. There is no "medical necessity" where no medical benefit or health risk exists.”
“To justify funding of a service, the medical necessity and therapeutic value of that service should be undisputed. “
“If the federal government had any confidence that a majority of Canadians wish to see abortion funded by the taxpayer, it could easily prove so in a referendum. Without such a democratic affirmation of national support for free abortions, the government should at least respect the diversity of provincial government approaches to abortion funding."
