"It is...Our will that Catholics should abstain from certain appellations which have recently been brought into use to distinguish one group of Catholics from another. They are to be avoided not only as 'profane novelties of words,' out of harmony with both truth and justice, but also because they give rise to great trouble and confusion among Catholics. Such is the nature of Catholicism that it does not admit of more or less, but must be held as a whole or as a whole rejected: 'This is the Catholic faith, which unless a man believe faithfully and firmly; he cannot be saved' (Athanasian Creed). There is no need of adding any qualifying terms to the profession of Catholicism: it is quite enough for each one to proclaim 'Christian is my name and Catholic my surname,' only let him endeavour to be in reality what he calls himself." -- Pope Benedict XV, Ad Beatissimi Apostolorum 24 (1914)

Petition Background (Preamble):
Premier Kathleen Wynne is preparing to reintroduce graphic changes to the sexual education curriculum in September, 2015.
Updates to Ontario’s sexual education curriculum have been dogged with controversy since they were last proposed back in 2010 when Kathleen Wynne was Education Minister under then-Premier Dalton McGuinty.
Parents objected to the young ages at which graphic content and morally contentious topics were being introduced.
Then, as now, Ontarians want to send the strongest possible message to stop the delivery of contentious and age-inappropriate material to our children at school. We urge concerned parents and grandparents to petition the Liberal government to drop the proposed changes by adding their signatures to this petition.

Kathleen Wynne, Premier of Ontario,
Liz Sandals, Ontario Minister of Education
We, the undersigned, petition your government to stop your plans to update the sexual education curriculum with changes that parents oppose because they are graphic and age-inappropriate and don’t align with the principles of many religious and cultural groups.
We do not believe that pre-pubescent children should be overloaded with graphic information about sex. As their parents and grandparents, we want to preserve their innocence as long as possible.
In the realm of the formation of our children, parents are the first educators and have the greatest authority over how and when sensitive material is introduced to them. We expect the schools to support and not undermine parental authority.
